When visiting Wayanad, a major hill station in Kerala, don't miss Pookode Lake, considered one of its finest attractions. Nestled amidst lush evergreen forests and surrounded by scenic mountain slopes, this freshwater lake is one of South India's most beautiful.
Spanning 8.5 hectares with a depth of 6.5 meters, Pookode Lake is fed by the Panamaram rivulet, which later becomes the Kabani River. Geographically, the lake resembles the shape of India’s map. It is a perennial lake protected by forested hills, home to freshwater fish and vibrant blue lotus flowers. While some Wayanad tour packages include visits to Pookode Lake, others may require independent exploration.
